The Office of Budget provides basic oversight, coordination, and planning of financial resources for County departments reporting to the Board of County Commissioners as well as coordination with the Constitutional Offices for whom the Board provides funding. The Office of Budget is divided into two sections. The Budget section serves County departments and offices to ensure they have the financial resources necessary to carry out their programs on behalf of the citizens of Lake County. Budget also prepares the annual Countywide budget, in conjunction with all departments and offices, and subsequently oversees all expenditures for compliance with the Board adopted budget. The Financial Management section provides the oversight of long-term financial planning. Financial Management prepares all revenue estimates and analyses, monitors legislative issues as they impact financial planning for the County, manages municipal debt programs, and oversees the non-ad valorem assessment programs.
