The South Lake Regional Water initiative is a collaboration between various entities including St. John's River Water Management District, Lake County Water Authority, Lake County Board of County Commissioners, South Lake Chamber of Commerce and the municipalities of Clermont, Mascotte, Montverde, Groveland and Minneola.
Working contiguous to the Central Florida Water Initiative, the South Lake Regional Water Initiative addresses regional solutions in the critical areas of reclaimed water distribution, minimum flows and levels of the region's lakes and rivers, and alternative water supplies and conservation.
Launching the initiative, the South Lake Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Lake County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Clermont, hosted the South Lake Water Summit on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 at Clermont City Hall. The public was invited to the forum, which delved into the problem of declining water levels in many of the south Lake County waterways and addressed future water supply from the aquifer.
