Changes to Residential Collection Service
beginning February 3rd, 2020


Bulk items (appliances, furniture, electronics, etc.) will now be collected on yard waste collection days. Residents must call at least 24 hours in advance to set up the collection. Residents may call the County staff at 352-343-3776 or their garbage hauler to schedule the bulk collection.

Bulk items are still limited to 3 cubic yards once per week. Construction and demolition materials are limited to 2 cubic yards once per month.


Yard Waste will now have a 4 cubic yard limit. 4 cubic yards is equivalent to:

  1. 20 lawn and leaf bags (39 gallon), or
  2. 8 large (96 gallon) trash carts, or
  3. a pile 4.75 ft. X 4.75 ft. X 4.75 ft. (4’9” X 4’9” X 4’9”)

Any yard waste over the 4 cubic yards will be left until the following week.

All limbs must be no longer than 4 feet and cannot be greater than 6 inches in diameter and must be stacked neatly at the roadside. All leaves, grass clippings, vines, moss, etc., must be bagged or containerized. Bags, trash cans, and other yard waste containers cannot weigh more than 50 pounds.

It is recommended that yard waste be placed in trash cans or paper yard bags, but not required.

County Trash and Recycling Carts are not to be used for Yard Waste.

The Solid Waste Division consists of solid waste operations and commercial and residential hazardous waste collection and recycling.

Solid Waste Operations is pro-active in managing the waste generated in Lake County. From curbside waste disposal, to providing six drop-off facilities, the Lake County "WasteStream" is designed for ease of residential service to protection of the environment. Residents must bring proof of residency to use any of our Convenience Centers.

Hazardous Waste & E-Cycling section works with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in recycling and all other waste management issues such as hazardous waste disposal. It is a divsion goal to provide residents with the best customer service possible, while preserving the unique environment of Lake County.
