Tavares – With temperatures expected to drop tonight and tomorrow evening, Lake County will activate shelters for those vulnerable to cold weather.
LifePointe Church, located at 3551 E. Orange Ave. in Eustis, and Trinity Assembly of God, located at 200 Urick St. in Fruitland Park, will open for sheltering on Monday, Jan. 20 from 5:30 p.m. to Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 7 a.m. The same churches will open again on Tuesday, Jan. 21 from 5:30 p.m. to Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7 a.m.
Lake County para-transit will offer assistance to those needing transport to the shelters on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. The following four pickup locations will be available at the times shown:
4th and Main Street in Leesburg at 5 p.m. with transport to Trinity Assembly of God.
Come As You Are Ministry, located at 1305 Sunshine Ave. in Leesburg at 5 p.m. with transport to Trinity Assembly of God.
Citrus Tower parking lot, located at 141 N. Highway 27 in Clermont at 5 p.m. with transport to LifePointe Church.
The Open Door, located at 115 Citrus Ave. in Eustis at 5:30 p.m. with transport to LifePointe Church.
Lake County para-transit services will also offer assistance to individuals needing transport away from the shelters on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Individuals who require transportation from the LifePointe Church shelter on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings will be taken to either The Open Door in Eustis or the Citrus Tower parking lot in Clermont. Individuals requiring transportation from the Trinity Assembly of God shelter on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings will be taken to either the Salvation Army, Come As You Are Ministry or 4th and Main Street in Leesburg.
