Lake County Libraries closing to help prevent spread of COVID-19

RELEASE DATE: March 16, 2020

Tavares – The Lake County Library System will close some locations as a precaution to help prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The following library locations will close, effective starting today, March 16, at 6 p.m. and will remain closed until further notice. Note that three of these libraries are also polling locations, including Cagan Crossings Community Library (Four Corners), Cooper Memorial Library (Clermont) and Lady Lake Public Library. These library polling locations, as well as all other polling locations, will be open for voting on March 17 during normal precinct times of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Astor County Library
  • Cagan Crossings Community Library (Four Corners) (Open as a polling location on March 17 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Cooper Memorial Library (Clermont) (Open as a polling location on March 17 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • East Lake County Library (Sorrento)
  • Eustis Memorial Library (will close starting March 16 at 8 p.m.)
  • Fruitland Park Library
  • Helen Lehmann Memorial Library (Montverde)
  • Lady Lake Public Library (will close starting March 17 at 12 p.m.) (Open as a polling location on March 17 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Marianne Beck Memorial Library (Howey-in-the-Hills)
  • Marion Baysinger Memorial County Library (Groveland)
  • Minneola Schoolhouse Library 
  • Paisley County Library
  • Umatilla Public Library

Events, meetings and gatherings that were scheduled to take place at these libraries are also canceled through March. Item reservations will be paused but will resume once libraries open. Fines at all 16 Lake County Library locations will be waived during this time.

Lake County Library System patrons are encouraged to utilize the digital resources available 24 hours a day via http://www.mylakelibrary.org/.

  • Pronunciator: 163 languages to learn, all taught by native speakers.
