Lake County to activate cold weather shelters
Jan. 9

RELEASE DATE: January 8, 2021

Tavares – With temperatures expected to drop on Saturday, Jan. 9, Lake County will activate a shelter for those vulnerable to cold weather.

LifePointe Church, located at 3551 E. Orange Ave. in Eustis, will open from 5 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning. Masks are required and COVID-19 screening will be conducted.

Lake County Connection will provide free transportation to riders who indicate they are traveling to a cold weather shelter. Riders should arrive before the indicated pick-up time.

 

  • Saturday, Jan. 9
    • Lake County Connection will pick up riders from the Salvation Army, located at 2605 South St., Leesburg, between 4:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
    • Lake County Connection will pick up riders from Come As You Are Ministry, located at 1305 Sunshine Ave., Leesburg, between 4:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.
    • Lake County Connection will pick up riders from the public parking lot next to The Open Door, located at 115 E. Citrus Ave., Eustis, between 4:45 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
    • Lake County Connection will pick up riders at Citrus Tower Boulevard and Highway 27 in Clermont at 4:30 p.m.

 

  • Sunday, Jan. 10
    • Lake County Connection will pick up riders from LifePointe Church between 6:45 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. and may return riders to:
      • The Open Door, located at 115 E. Citrus Ave., Eustis.
      • The Come as You Are Ministry, located at 1305 Sunshine Ave., Leesburg.
      • The Salvation Army, located at 2605 South St., Leesburg.
    • The above locations are not expected to be open.

 

Lake County residents who anticipate the need to be sheltered at the church but are unable to be picked up at one of the pre-designated locations should call Lake County Connections at 352-742-2612 by 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9 to schedule a time and location for pick-up.
