Tavares – The Florida Department of Transportation will conduct several upcoming operations that will impact Lake County roadways. Portions of the original County Road 46A will be renamed and permanently closed to thru traffic, with the following impacts to lane and road closures, detours, and traffic shifts occurring before the permanent road closure.
Two cul-de-sacs will be constructed on County Road 46A in preparation of closing the road to thru traffic. Lane closures and flagging will take place from June 1 – 5 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
State Road 429 ramps to place friction asphalt. Closure and/or detours to old County Road 46A will take place from June 1 – 5 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The closure and traffic shift of the portion of County Road 46A between the two new cul-de-sacs will take place the night of June 6 / morning of June 7.
The two sections of road created by this split of “Old 46A” will receive new road names. Once the project is complete, the western portion of the road will be named Droty Spring Lane, and the eastern portion of the road will be named Sleepy Bear Lane.
This information is also being communicated to emergency response agencies as well as updated in all County mapping systems. All affected addresses have been notified and updated for 911 purposes.
