Job Summary:
The essential function of the position within the organization is to review and evaluate commercial and residential building plans for compliance with pertinent local ordinances and state codes. The position is responsible for assisting clients in attaining code compliance, processing plans for permitting, and maintaining related database and reports. The position works under general supervision independently developing work methods and sequences.

This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a closely related field with four years of related experience. Requires a valid Florida driver’s license. Must possess designation as a Certified Plans Examiner. Must possess a State of Florida Standard or be able to acquire a provisional certification within thirty (30) days of employment in at least three (3) of the following categories: Building Plans Examiner, Plumbing PE, Mechanical PE, or Electrical PE.
