The Lake County Animal Services Division recently held a ceremony in recognition of volunteers for their efforts at the animal shelter.
Volunteers from Building Block Ministries and Lake Hills School assist the staff with everyday tasks such as washing, folding and putting away laundry, separating newspaper for litter pans, and even walking dogs. Volunteers from the two groups help out at the shelter on alternating Wednesdays for two and half hours per day, and have given more than 467 hours of much-needed service to the animal shelter.
“Our group members love volunteering at Animal Services and really look forward to going on their assigned days,” said John Meerleveld, Employment Specialist/Job Coach for Building Block Ministries. “They have learned numerous life-related skills many take for granted, and the experience has been a huge confidence builder for them.”
