Posted: March 21, 2013

22 volunteers honored at Board meeting for generous contributions of service hours in 2012

During the 2012 calendar year, more than 400 volunteers contributed over 24,000 cumulative hours to Lake County. Volunteers provided service in the library/adult literacy program, teen court, animal services, probation, emergency management and more.

“The residents of Lake County benefit tremendously from the dedication of our volunteers. Through their service we are able to provide services that County government might not otherwise be able to provide,” said Leslie Campione, chairman of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners. “Their contributions assisted the County in offering excellent customer service to our residents in a variety of areas, and we greatly appreciate the spirit of volunteerism they spread throughout our community.”

Forty-six volunteers gave more than 150 hours of service, and 22 were present to receive certificates for their service at the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Feb. 26. They are as follows:

• Volunteers with the Public Resources Department/Library Services include Marilyn Morrison (154 hours), Christine Gillemette (157 hours), David Hasnuma (160 hours), Kathleen Weaver (171 hours), Gilberte Airoldi, 171 hours, Thomas Merchant (201 hours), Nancy Puckett (243 hours), David Belisle (315 hours), Charles Keller (409 hours), Craig Smith (463 hours), and Jane Smith (463 hours.)

• Volunteers with the Public Resources Department/Adult Literacy Program include James Briggs (158 hours), Carleton Connor (180 hours), Wanda Klaus (287 hours), and George Cooke (535 hours).

• Volunteers with the Public Safety Department in the Emergency Management Division include Paul Branch (165 hours), Spencer Kostus (168 hours), Stephen Flynn (191 hours), John Walton (227 hours), and Strait Hollis (228 hours).
